The updated logo has saved the genetic code and sends a message to customers and partners that Ukrzaliznytsia is changing,” Yevhen Kravtsov

Ukrzaliznytsia updated logo has been presented to the media and the public on September 27 by Yevhen Kravtsov, the head of PAT Ukrzaliznytsia, Shevki Adjuner, the chairman of company’s supervisory board and Natalia Zakashanska, director of Galagan creative agency. The event has been attended by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Iurii Lavrenyuk.

The updated logo, according to Yevhen Kravtsov, is a symbol of Ukrzaliznytsia changes. It can already be seen on a new rolling stock: cars and locomotives. Establishing the company in a status of public joint-stock company and current market positioning to fit necessities of the times have become grounds for recasting company’s visual image. Henceforth it is represented by the stylized letters “U” and “Z”, made in a unique font, and locomotive moving forward.

“We do not change the logo but update it keeping the genetic code and sending a message to customers and partners that Ukrzaliznytsia is changing. We did not spend on its designing any hryvnia from company’s budget. The logo symbolizes advancing movement of Ukrzaliznytsia, representing Ukrzaliznytsia as a locomotive of the country. As company’s head jointly with supervisory board I take a challenge to make the company modern. We actively produce new freight and passenger rail cars, launching new locomotives on routes. At the present everyone will be able to track by new logo, for example, how much new rolling stock has been added. Starting to use a new logo serves as a certain reference point enabling to see real changes in the company,” said Yevhen Kravtsov.

According to Shevki Adjuner, supervisory board chairman, these changes demonstrate Ukrzaliznytsia moving towards modernization and its focusing on the client. “We would like to message that Ukrzaliznytsia is modern, strong and customer-oriented. I am thanking to the partners who helped to create its updated logo”, – remarked Shevki Adjuner.

Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Iurii Lavrenyuk has noted that the ministry supports Ukrzaliznytsia development course. “For citizens it should be associated with renovation. Refurbished stations, new locomotives and rail cars will contain a new logo, that will serve as a proof of real work of Ukrzaliznytsia new team. This is the right step of company’s management”, – he said.

According to Natalia Zakashanska, director of Galagan creative agency, the renewed logo is based on minimalism criteria. Conciseness enables to be more recognizable, easy to reproduce, effective for further communication. Unique identity will also be emphasized by corporate color, the basis of which has been blue (indigo).

Ukrzaliznytsia logo is changed for the first time in the last twenty years. It will be unique to the entire company, its regional affiliates and branches. This approach should consolidate all company divisions, many of whom previously had a separate logo.

Public joint stock company “Ukrzaliznytsia” – is the main carrier of the country. Currently the company provides 82% of freight and about 50% of passenger carriages fulfilled by all transport means. Basing on its freight volumes the Ukrainian railroad is ranked fourth in the Eurasian continent, being second only to the railways of China, Russia and India.
